Make Lemonade

We had a wonderful weekend with family!  We drove to Des Moines, IA, where I grew up, for one of my cousin's wedding.  It was absolutely beautiful both aesthetically and emotionally.  I have never seen a more stunning bride!  She married her prince and we could not be any happier for the whole family.  It was also great to see my aunt and uncle so thrilled!  I did pretty well physically.  I am not back quite to my normal self but I am doing tons better!  I get a little dizzy from time to time, but a Powerade is enough to straighten me back out.  I get a little achy, but my meds take right care of it.  I am building my energy and stamina back to my normal levels pretty steadily.  I was able to dance at the wedding just a little bit.  2 weeks ago, I wouldn't have been able to go.  My family is so helpful and accommodating, we brought a chair out to the side of the dance floor and I was able to participate more that way.  I recommend looking for things like this.  It may feel embarrassing at first but it is so much better than sitting in the corner feeling sorry for yourself!  I refuse to give Lupus/Fibromyalgia more than I absolutely have too!  I WILL dance at a wedding no matter how I have  to do it!  I WILL continue to go shopping even if I have to take a wheelchair.  I WILL bake Christmas cookies, even if I have to sit on a chair in the kitchen to do it!  Lupus has to change my life, it does not have to devastate it!  It's funny, when I was a child and teenager and I was going through rough times, people would always tell me to make the best of it.  I HATED to hear that, especially from those that were making the  decisions I had to make the best of.  But, I can now be thankful because I am pretty good at making the best of things now and it makes my life so much more rich!
